Linking Myths Dispelled True Or False? Finally, before we get to solutions and traffic creation, we would like to clear up a few linking myths propagated by the SEO "gurus". A lot of these are based around Google, as most SEO is Google based, but they also apply to other search engines. Myth 1 "Google will penalize websites with irrelevant links" FALSE! This was NEVER published by Google or any other search engine. A search engine will NOT penalize you for having a well organized links directory with links to other sites. Myth 2 "Google does not spider pages or directories named "links"" FALSE! Utter RUBBISH, yes they do, our links pages are spidered and indexed as are the links pages of all sites if they are well set up. Again this was not published by Google. Myth 3 "You should link only to similar sites" FALSE! While Google or other search engines may like links to similar sites more let us ask you a question. How useful would Google or Yahoo be if they only linked to other search engines, and those search engines only linked to other search engines? Can you see the silliness in this idea??? More on this in our solutions section. Myth 4 "If you have too many links your site will be classed as a link farm and be banned from search engines" FALSE! Any site with a decent amount of quality content and a well organized links directory will not be marked as a link farm. Again we will cover this more in our solutions pages. Myth 5 "Your link must be on a PR4 page or more to be of value" FALSE! Google themselves say the PR on their tool bar is not the same raking they use in their algorithms. REMEMBER, if a link gets clicked it has value period! Unless of course these "gurus" don't value visitors. Consider this, I finished building my site today, I have $1000 to spend on advertising, that will bring plenty of visitors, does this mean because my site is new and has no PR that you will not get one of my visitors from my VISIBLE link section??
